This garden near a new lodging is found on a cliff surrounded by sea on all sides. Previously the ground was a vineyard and it was covered by the remains of walls stacked up so as to compensate for the differences in level and serve as protection against violent sea winds. We have restored the walls fragmentarily, but at the same time rearranged and redesigned them here and there, with bevelled edges and indentations that create interesting views and give the whole a more contemporary. The swimming pool has been made in lava stone from the region and is protected by two high walls that create an exceptional effect. The paths as well as the terraces are also made of lava stone, cut in different formats and creating an interesting motif. Scattered in the terrain are several sheltered themed gardens such as a pleasure garden with a vast collection of proteas, a jungle garden which is supposed to evoke the botanical abundance of tropical vegetation, an ornamental kitchen garden and a ‘sea garden’ with, among others, bromeliads, agaves and agapanthus. / in collaboration with Marcq interior architects
