AG5 performed the role of executive architect for Georg Jensen in conjunction with their new 225m2 flagship store on Nytorv, Copenhagen airport.
The store is the first in a new image for Georg Jensen, building upon their proud silvery traditions but bringing the concept into a modern Danish setting. Inspiration for the design, according to Mark Pinney, design architect, was to create the feeling of a modern Danish home by dividing the space into recognisable zones. The customer is first greeted by an open veranda prior to entering the “house”. Here one finds the living area, library with Georg Jensen icons, and the gallery displaying the jewelry collection.
A compressed time schedule meant that construction works had to be planned and coordinated precisely. In addition to the general and fitout contractor, the airport supplied its own trades, such as HVAC, which required access during construction.
This fitout was completed in a record 8 weeks, including all disciplines, and is now used as the standard for further shop fitouts globally.
