The site for this residence is in South Delhi, on a plot sandwiched between two existing houses. The challenge was to develop three separate apartment units of approximately of 10,000 sq. ft. total built up area while ensuring adequate light, ventilation and open, green spaces for all units. A landscape courtyard was sculpted out of the earth towards the south allowing the winter sun to penetrate into the living areas while floor to ceiling glass allows the indoor spaces to flow out into this green court. The building is designed as a load bearing exposed brick structure with flat slabs. This makes the construction process simpler and faster while allowing for larger volumes and an effortless aesthetic. The spaces ofare organized along a linear gallery that’s forms the spine of the building, providing for efficient circulation as well as the zone through which all services are carried and distributed.
