Michael Beutler. Bozar Monumental

Bozar launches Bozar Monumental, an annual summer commission that restores the Horta Hall to its original function: a stage for sculpture. The first edition is in the hands of German artist Michael Beutler (1976), known for his large-scale, playful architectural installations.

Beutler works with simple, sustainable materials such as cardboard, paper, and wood, which he manipulates using tools he makes himself. His creations emerge through a dynamic, open process in which collaboration with students and local communities plays a central role. Beutler’s work is constantly evolving: the process – visible and accessible rather than hidden behind studio doors – is just as important as the final result. His installation in the Horta Hall invites you to experience the space in a new and surprising way.
