The requirement was to create an International I.T. Campus for 3500 developers on an 11 acres plot with corresponding corporate block, Cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sports facility, Security area, Landscaping with 750 nos. capacity amphitheatre & ancillary structures as required. The feel of the place wished by the client was minimal and functional based on the name of the company ‘ZENsar ‘i.e. the Zen philosophy.
S&K worked on the concept keeping the word ‘CAMPUS’ in mind. The difference between a regular commercial building and a campus is that you have and enjoy the space around. This was the reason for planning the main entrances of the building in the opposite direction to the main entry road. The flow of traffic was designed to have restricted vehicular entry to the Buildings (except for the corporate block). The simplicity and serenity in the building design provides the right kind of working atmosphere to produce efficient performance of the developers and the balance and harmony created by the landscape which compliments the building design gives the required relief to the developers from huge work pressure.
Apart from optimum functional work spaces and service support areas the building has spacious double height reception lobby flanged with courts & gathering spaces often used by the developers as smoking zones. These gathering spaces facilitates huge amount of cross ventilation through out the building making them energy efficient. The over all design style of the building is contemporary which is achieved by balanced use of solid and voids. The composition is balanced by controlled use of suspended & Structural glazing. The highlight for all the buildings is the entrance with a canopy as architectural feature framed by R.C.C / wooden pergolas at the top most level. The landscape Nevasa stone walls ties all the buildings to give a complete CAMPUS feeling, complimented by the linear water bodies & plazas with champs trees which gives a welcoming feeling to the user.
This beautiful campus is guarded by a well designed security block with a guest and a VIP lounge besides the visitors parking. The requirement of parking is taken care in terms of open and basement parking spaces. The campus has 100 % D.G. backup for power with a separate block for services. The requirement for no. of developers increased in the due course of time and currently the campus holds space for 3600 developers which were finished in 3 phases of construction.
