complex of the eye

The house is for a family of four: a husband who enjoys cars, a wife who is a pastry chef, and an energetic 6-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy. The husband wanted a built-in garage for his convertible car, and the wife wanted a large kitchen visible from the street where she could hold cake classes. The children also innocently said they wanted a swing set in the children's room and a glass floor that would allow them to see the floor below.

The site is a corner lot bordering the road on the south and east in a good residential area with a relatively large plot of land, although it is a little far from the station. The road on the east side is a 10-meter wide arterial road with relatively heavy traffic. The wife, who dreamed of running a cake shop or a cake school at home in the future, chose this site because of the heavy traffic.

Three parking spaces are secured on the south side of the site, and the building is pulled to the north side. The plan shape is almost square, but the plane is divided into a 3 x 3 matrix. The result is a unit space with sides ranging from 2.7 to 3.2 meters. By manipulating the floor level of each unit, a diagonal line of sight is created across the three different areas, and depending on the location, this line of sight may lead to the sky, the front road, or other areas outside the site.

I am interested in creating more diverse spaces and places through the simplest possible spatial composition and manipulation. In this house, by creating many "visible but inaccessible" spatial relationships, I hoped to create a variety of spaces where the line of sight would become intricate and unexpected scenes would appear for a moment in daily life.
