The renovation project for this existing 20,000 SF “pocket park” at One Penn Plaza in Midtown Manhattan intends to enliven the underutilized space. With entrances at 33rd and 34th Streets just east of 8th Avenue, the project contains upgraded amenities including new concession kiosks serving food and drink to the public. The terrace is comprised of a large central “beer garden” deck as well as lighting, plantings and benches. All of these additions intend to create an inviting edge to the plaza as well as an active destination for visitors.
The project underwent a process of design, public approvals and construction, including review and approval by the New York City Planning Commission and Manhattan Community Board 5.
