The project is located in Shuangyue Bay Central Park, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, China. The base is a hill in the park, facing the sea in the southwest and hills and valleys in the northeast. The design strives to integrate the cultural attribute of the library, the environmental attribute of the site and the public attribute of contemporary society. In order to get the best view and not block the view of the low-rise residents behind to see the sea, the library is hidden at the end of the hill with the help of the height difference of the terrain. Architectural modeling emphasizes simple geometric shapes - circle, square and straight line. The whole body in white strengthens the purity of the building. Architects want the building to coexist with the site, which respects the environment but has its own character.
The roof section is bowl shaped, and the transparent glass in the reading area endows the roof with a sense of suspension. The space in the bowl is a pool, below which the main building is located. People go down the corridor and "dive in" from under the pool. The interior is composed of a group of dramatic spaces with a sense of sequence, light and dark, opening and closing overlapping. From the porch to the circular dark space in the middle of the building, and further to the bright and transparent reading area in the outer ring of the building, as well as the simple tea room and mysterious toilet area, readers read the architecture, environment and themselves in different ways.
Several boulders in the site are carefully preserved and become an important part of the landscape. The long wall leads people to the roof pool and the sea. The roof pool is more or less utopian — people can enter the pool and walk on the water, their sight skimming over the water and viewing the sea level in the distance. Water, sky and sea are integrated here and now.
