First prize: BOOX by Moritz Hahn

The Arts & Architecture Pop-up design challenge asked entrants for "future-oriented concepts of dynamic and flexible display systems." Furthermore, they were challenged to work with one specific material: HONEXT panels, a "high-end reclaimed material for circular living, created entirely from cellulose waste." This material meant the designs would be modular, transportable, and versatile, being installed at the Frankfurt Book Fair but then being used at later events. The jury* selected three winners and a special mention.

First prize is BOOX by Moritz Hahn:

"Designed to reflect on the various places where people go to when they want to read, as well as the various positions we are used to read in, BOOX combines a broad potential and a flexible design. Meant to be more than just a shelf, the idea follows the intention to have one simple object that is suitable for sitting and lying down on it, being fun to explore, while capable of mirroring different situations like a coffee shop, a park, or a place to gather. That means while still being an object that is primarily presenting books, people are drawn to it for all the other reasons as well, making it an eyecatcher and a space where people get together."

Second prize: HTAAB by Florian Kilian Jaritz and Philipp Krüpe
Second prize is HTAAB Florian Kilian Jaritz and Philipp Krüpe:

"HTAAB (Reinvented) is a high-functional modular system made from three objects: a shelf with display feature, a table with integrated trays and a stool. It is simple, lightweight and sustainable. The elements are flexibly combinable and the dimensions adaptive. This way, presentation scenarios reaching from book fairs to small pop–up book stores are possible. Every element of the display system is equipped with wheels, so they can be assembled as needed."

Special mention: BOOKALLEY by Saskia K.
Special mention is BOOKALLEY by Saskia K.:

"Easy to build-up and dismantle, the BOOKALLEY® gets headway to the next showground. The modular concept of the BOOKALLEY® is inspired by the prototype constructed entirely of books."

Special mention: BOOKALLEY by Saskia K.
