In recent years a number of popular tech companies – Airbnb, Dropbox, Pinterest, and Twitter – have opened new headquarters in San Francisco's South of Market area. We take a look inside them for a side-by-side comparison of their workplace designs.
Last year we did a similar side-by-side comparison of three tech companies – Amazon, Apple, Facebook – that are in the process of building major headquarters from the ground up. Here we take a similar approach in looking at headquarters that are smaller, are interior renovations rather than new buildings, and are designed by names without the familiarity of Gehry and Foster. Each of the four companies featured here is growing rapidly, meaning they will probably expand beyond the footprints of their new headquarters in the near future. Perhaps they will even go the route of the biggies and create new buildings – like the interior renovations in SoMa – aimed at fostering creativity and productivity in their employees.
