Light + Building will take place at its new date from 2 to 6 October. With around 1,300 exhibitors from 46 countries, it is well prepared for both lighting and building automation.
At the beginning of the year, Messe Frankfurt decided to postpone the Light + Building trade fair until autumn: it will now take place from 2 to 6 October 2022. The hybrid concept has been retained for the Light + Building Autumn Edition. In addition to the international industry get-together on site in Frankfurt, participation is also possible via the digital platform Light + Building Digital Extension. On the exhibition grounds, exhibitors will present a wide range of products for integrated building design. All electricity-related trades are united here: from lighting planning and luminaire design, networked security and building automation to electrical installation systems, intelligent energy management and e-charging infrastructure.

The industry’s trade fair re-launch comes at a time that is more than ever characterized by uncertainty and crises. However, the intensified climate debate, questions about alternative energy sources and mobility concepts are confronting the industry with an environment where its forward-looking solutions are more in demand than ever. The Light + Building Autumn Edition offers the opportunity to discover new products and trends and to optimally position oneself for the demands of the time.
The digital trade fair platform enables visitors to find the right business partners and get in touch with them in advance. It will be available online from 2 to 14 October 2022 and will extend the international exchange and information opportunities beyond the trade fair duration.
The trend agency Bora Herke Palmisano, commissioned by Light + Building, specifies three trend themes for both lighting design and building automation and stages them at the Design Plaza in Hall 3.1: “sensuous+imaginative” asks what is real and what is virtual design – all in pastel shades. The second trend, “serious+unfeigned” highlights everything to do with nature in the corresponding colors and materials. “Judicious+eminent” features luminaires and building automation with graphic structures and light grey shades.

60 percent of the exhibitors come from the lighting sectorAt the moment, the organizers are expecting around 1,300 exhibitors from 46 countries. The West Ground is dedicated to the integrated building technology sector, which is growing strongly against the backdrop of the necessary digitalization and electrification. All the major manufacturers will be represented here, including Bosch, Buderus, Busch-Jaeger, Gira, Hager and Warema. In the lighting sector, one or the other major company is missing, but foreign companies in particular are taking advantage of the opportunity to present themselves. Thus, the lighting industry exhibiting on the East Ground comprises very international representatives and is still the larger one of the two sectors. Exhibitors include Artemide, Buzzispace, Domus, Ettlin, Lightnet, Martinelli and Midgard.

Building automation plays an important role in the integration of all technical trades. Respective companies are exhibiting their solutions in Halls 9, 11 and 12. Visitors will also find energy-efficient building system solutions, electrical equipment, electrical installation and network technology and electrical engineering. For the first time, Light + Building will also include Hall 8 hosting the Intersec Building platform, which will focus in particular on the combination of connected security technology and building services technology. Hall 8 is the transition to the lighting area, as manufacturers of lighting components, light sources and control systems are also exhibiting here. Halls 3, 4 and 6 are all about light in all its facets. The range here includes designer luminaires in all styles, technical luminaires, outdoor and street lighting, emergency and safety lighting and full product ranges.
