Consistency and recognition, together with creating a safe environment to find new employment opportunities were the goals of AG5 , along with Punktum Design and JL Engineering for the refurbishment of the Copenhagen Job and Employment Centres. Under an initiative from the Employment and Integration Administration, the task was to create design with a strong graphic character and functionality. The project included 7 job centre affiliates, where emphasis was placed on each individual centre’s context and functionality
A new graphic identity was developed using existing Job Centre graphics as the starting point, this included the development of custom made furniture, a graphic line and a new color scheme. The main concept was the use of natural colors utilizing wood as the main material, which was mainly local / Nordic and remnant or recycled wood. The concept of finding new uses for recycled wood fit nicely with the Job Centres function. The furniture joinery company Jakon was the general contractor and built custom furniture and elements for each centre. Furniture and other elements were developed to provide the individual user with access to digital information in a private and secure setting, whilst at the same time providing access to natural light and a good visual connection to the surrounding functions in the Job Centre.
The Copenhagen Job Centers can now showcase open and friendly facilities that bind color, materials and graphic communication together with functionality.
