Kagkatikas Secret is one of twelve winners from 178 submissions to materialPREIS 2019, which were given out last week in a ceremony in Stuttgart. The annual awards are given by raumPROBE to architects and designers who are using materials in special ways.

Quintessenz's project won one of three awards in the material usage category. In Kagkatikas Secret, glass-fiber fabric was painted in 120 different shades of color, the overlapping layers creating noticeable moiré patterns. The sizes and arrangement of the suspended fabric panels drew visitors to the windows at the far end of the ruin and the distant views from them.

Visit the materialPREIS website to see more winners and check out Quintessenz's website to see more colorful installations by German artists Thomas Granseuer and Tomislav Topic.
