The 74 nominated projects announced today fall into six categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Graphics, Product, and Transport. Of interest here is the Architecture category, which consists of ten projects (six fewer than last year) ranging from individual buildings and master plans to a full-size house created for a film. The full list is below, with short, teaser descriptions courtesy of the Design Museum.

A winner will be selected in each category and one overall winner will be announced on November 26, 2020. Beazley Designs of the Year is on display from October 21, 2020, to March 28, 2021 at the museum's London home.

Last year's overall Design of the Year was the "Anatomy of an AI System" research project, winner also in the Digital cateogory. In 2018 the honor was given to Forensic Architecture's Counter Investigations, a solo exhibition held in London; although related to architecture, Forensic Architecture's exhibition won in the Digital category. We have to go back one more year to find the last time the winner in the Architecture category was also the overall Design of the Year: the National Museum of African American History and Culture, designed by David Adjaye/Adjaye Associates in partnership with The Freelon Group, Davis Brody Bond and SmithGroupJJR.
