The jury* of the inaugural prize has awarded three projects, one in each discipline:

Architectural Design Of The Year
Shanghai Tower
Dan Winey (Gensler)

Interior Design Of The Year
The Infinity Centre, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School
McBride Charles Ryan

Landscape Architecture of The Year
Sydney Park Water Re-use Project
Turf Design Studio & Environmental Partnership with Alluvium, Turpin + Crawford Studio, Dragonfly Environmental and Partridge

Although the prize is called the American Architecture Prize, these winners make it clear that the prize was open to international projects. Although very few background details can be found on the AAP website (for instance, who organizes and backs the prize?), it does indicate that the "AAP competition is open to anyone aged 18+ residing anywhere in the world."

Winners receive the AAP trophy, enjoy "extensive publicity throughout the following year," and will be fêted at the AAP Winners cocktail event at the Cooper Hewitt on October 25, 2016. Visit the AAP website for more information on the winners and to see the honorable mentions and student winners.
