With the multifunctional urban quarter Q 6 Q 7, the architects of blocher partners designed a vertical city of gastronomy, trade, leisure activities, living and a hotel. In the heart of Mannheim, a lively, urban quarter with versatile use and high quality of stay has been created. The architecture sensitively integrates the new building ensemble into the urban environment. Various approaches ensure the consistent networking of inner-city routes. Harmonious and self-confident, Q 6 Q 7 blends into the traditional cityscape with this open concept. Right from the start, the architects and city planners wanted more than just a mall in the center of Mannheim. They envisioned an urban nucleus of crystallization, which is still alive after closing time. For this purpose, the architectural office used the special topography of Mannheim, whose square grid is cut at the border of the former city wall by a circular arc. Under a large glass roof and a transparent connecting bridge spans a new urban space. It connects two corresponding houses and thus the squares Q 6 and Q 7, which expand and strengthen the network of trails between the Art Street and the Fressgasse.
