Masterplan for the Tangier Old Harbour, coordination of the new projects and redevelopment of the new seafront promenade.

Enlargement of the port’s waterfront. Design of the new water line and proposal for new fishing and yachting harbor. Development of the connectivity between central quarters ( Medina, International City ) and the new seafront through the public spaces system. New conception for mobility and parking system. Reactivation of the relationship between sea and city.

The reorganization of the port allows the connection between the sea and the city. The project focuses on the relationship long lost with the industrial use of the port. The new distribution of activities (fishing port, ferries, cruises, marina, housing and facilities) locates the leisure port in front of the urban facade.

Access to the harbour is possible from both sides of this front, thus the central area is released from the traffic, offering a big esplanade linking the old city with the sea. This reinstates the routes and relationships between the Medina and the sea. With the creation of new docks and the recovery of the industrial ones, the water surface of the harbour expands and approaches the city, as it was before.

The public spaces system is based on the platform gained over the sea, offering a new urban waterfront, new perspectives and a new sequence of public space. Two main axes distribute this system: The first one, the facade ‘boulevard’, links the avenue of the ledge to the beach promenade and runs along the city’s historic facade.
