Building for guests

Architecture and Hospitality in Dialogue – Our recent event focused on the close collaboration between architects and hoteliers—a key factor in ensuring truly happy guests. In an engaging presentation, architect Sebastian Pajakowski and hotelier Björn Rapanis shared their perspectives through the example of lyf East Frankfurt (formerly Lindley Lindenberg). Designed by FRANKEN, this 100-room guest community stands out with its striking architecture: a seven-story structure featuring a distinctive “Wunderkiste” at the front. Materials such as cast iron, plaster, and clinker brick reference Wilhelminian industrial architecture, while floor-to-ceiling glazing connects the communal areas with the city. One of the most intriguing aspects is the vertical organization of shared spaces across the full height of the building—a design approach that integrates the hotel more deeply into urban life.

In the subsequent panel discussion with Renato Turri (World-Architects), the conversation further explored the impact of thoughtful architecture on hospitality. The discussion highlighted how innovative design concepts can create not only functional spaces but also dynamic social environments. To round off the event, a guided tour to visionary exhibitors provided additional insights, showcasing cutting-edge trends and fresh ideas shaping the industry. A thought-provoking evening with valuable perspectives on the future of hotel architecture and design!
