This two-story home for a family of five is built on a slope, with a concrete ground level and a wooden upper level. A courtyard with a maple tree growing in it stands at the center. Around it, the kitchen, living room, library, and children’s bedroom are arranged in a continuous loop, forming a single corridor-like room. All of the wood-framed doors and windows facing the courtyard may be opened to create a single outdoor-indoor space with excellent air circulation. The huge kitchen counter and dining table define the use of the space.
