“In building our home, were lucky in two regards – firstly, we were be able to build on a plot of land owned by my grandparents; and secondly, we were able to collaborate with my sister-in-law Miriam, an architect at Bogenfeld Architecture. By working with the architects, we became aware of so many new possibilities: the fine arrangement on the site, the materials and the compact floor plan. Now we enjoy every day in our super modern, open home which – in spite of its simplicity – is completely hygge.” -the clients
On a long, narrow plot in the middle of town, the design reinterprets the typical “Streckhof Siedlung” – a traditional village structure common in rural Lower Austria. A secondary building is oriented toward the street and the main house is hidden behind, creating a protected courtyard between the two buildings. Indoor and outdoor areas, garden and courtyard, flow into each other seamlessly.
The clients knew from the beginning that they wanted to build a wooden house. In addition to wood is a concrete core and floor slab, static steel elements as well as glass.
