House in Yakage

Yakage-cho prospered as a post town on the Saigoku Highway (Sanyo-do) during the Edo period, and the street where the Yakage Honjin is located is an area where traditional townscapes have been preserved.

The site is located in a rich environment near the foot of a mountain where rural scenery remains, and you can see Mt. Takatsuma on the northeast side. Here, I thought of a house where a family of four can enjoy this nature peacefully.

The site area is relatively large at about 120 tsubo, and it felt spacious in combination with the environment. While sharing the image of the client's polite lifestyle and future lifestyle, I came up with an image of family and friends gathering in a space full of soft light and enjoying nature.

The space where the family gathers (LDK) has an opening facing the mountain so that the whole can be opened and connected to the rich nature. The ceiling of this space is a vaulted ceiling (a semi-cylindrical type), and paulownia wood is used as the finishing material. This ceiling softly absorbs light and creates a gradation, creating a space of light with beauty and calmness. In addition, the wood-burning stove placed in the center becomes a place where people gather, and the rich nature spreads behind the flickering flames.

The exterior has a neat hipped roof, and the outer walls are covered with red cedar boards so that you can enjoy the changes over time and blend in with this rich landscape. In the garden, there is a firewood shelf made by the client himself, which gives a calm atmosphere together with the architecture and plants.

Over the years, it has become a house where you can enjoy a tasteful life as your family grows.
