The interconnecting elements of the buildings form distinct façade risalits. They echo the Poelzig building from afar in the enclosure of the building’s corners together with the extremely raised attic. The new institute building is interpreted as a perforated façade whereas the lateral risalits are vertically emphasised by rather narrow two-axle window sections. A shadow gap underlines the volume’s framing. All publicly accessible tuition areas, the bistro and the technical services on the ground floor, the PC pool and the seminar halls belonging to the chairs and the administration too will be put into the HoF’s head-end structure facing the campus square. Controlled access to the Executive Teaching tuition area, which stretches over two floors, is provided via the foyer on the ground floor. All other controlled access areas as for instance the Informationszentrum Finanzen (finance information centre) and the lecture rooms on the ground floor and the post graduates’ area with the ‘Center for Financial Studies’ on the 1st floor can be reached from there. Of the second floor the southern wing and part of the northern wing are used by the finance department. The 3rd floor’s southern wing is occupied by the macro department, and its northern wing by the law department.
