This auction complex has been built to facilitate the export trade in cut flowers. Given the rocky nature of the eucalyptus wooded site and the large volumes and scale of required spaces, the Primary challenge was to layout the programme in a manner that did not harshly impose itself onto the site. The architectural aesthetic is inspired by the exactitude and pristine form of a flower, where vivid forms articulate their presence hovering above the ground, resting on slender supports. Angled berms and cantilevered decks are used to dematerialise the sense of walls, so that the triangulated white metal roof forms, supported on tubular steel columns, float between the trees above the contours of the site.

The project won the following awards:

(a) LG/Hindware ArchiDesign Awards 2007 - "Architect of the Year";

(b) Architecture+Design & Spectrum Foundation Awards 2007 - Recreational Architecture, First Prize;

(c) J.K. Cements Architect of the Year Awards 2007 - Commendation award under Public Buildings
