>Within a globalised world we are communicating via identities<
The radical speed of our communication as well as our options to travel is - besides all advantages - leading to a uniformisation of our environment. The more we should focus on our responsibility to change those into distinctive spaces in accordance to us as individuals.
Therefore in Spring 2009 we developed the idea to give a clear sign into the exterior which may also be perceived in darkness: the >luminated landmarks<. A luminated landmark brings out the consequent realization in public space.
In cooperation with several artists, we are showing the artwork of one artist >in residence< in our light store for one year. Therewith we are creating a unique collection that individualizes and enriches our environment.
As a first outcome of this idea we developed the >Lichtgestalten< (>light figures<) in cooperation with the sculptor Nele Ströbel. These highly plastic sculptures made of white terracotta have round windows through which the observer may see the illumination of the inner modules. Therewith the inner space of the sculpture turns inside out and creates a special light experience. At the same time the LED lights illuminate the outer space
from the stele itself.
The >Lichtzeichen< (>light signs<) were developed from the work group >moving things< by Ernst Hesse. It is a three-dimensional calligraphy made of steel bands. The implied lighting seams open up new perspectives to the inner and outer space of the sculptures and therewith correspond to the vision of Ernst Hesse and Gabriele Allendorf to make these spaces visible also in darkness.
>Morphings< by Sabine Straub is our current exposition – a sculpture as a drawing in space. Created by our own movements and the influence of light we are becoming the directors and observers of outer and inner spaces at the same time.
