The major challenge of the project is how to resolve the problem of lack of lighting in the apartment, which is in one of old residential building with small windows, located in downtown Shanghai. Artificial light membrane was used at various places of the apartment to mimic the effect of natural light. This works together with the minimal use of color and materials in the flat to achieve a poetic beauty.
