The reason for constructing the new BG3 office building was the growing space requirement of the company Bechtle AG at its main location in Neckarsulm. On the site designated by the master plan, we designed a four-story, fully basemented office building as an extension of the existing BG1 and BG2 office buildings.
The new office building spans nearly 12,500 square meters and offers primarily open-space offices for various company departments, along with a new executive floor at the Neckarsulm headquarters, a training area, coffee lounges, meeting rooms, and a fitness area.
The building is accessed via a ground-floor corridor and a bridge on the third floor connecting to BG2, as well as through a separate entrance on the ground floor. The nearly square floor plan is defined by two compact stairwell cores containing elevators, restrooms, and emergency staircases, as well as a central, approximately 12x12 meter atrium with a panoramic staircase.
The façade, designed as a full glass façade interspersed with closed aluminum panels, provides natural lighting for the workspaces. The 1.25-meter grid of the façade meets the client's requirement for maximum flexibility in floor plan design and the integration of possible partition walls with the façade. The interior spaces are characterized by light-filled zones, bright colors, and tactile surfaces.
The building was constructed to the KFW-55 standard. All relevant rooms are operated with heating and cooling panels powered by geothermal energy and district heating, as well as a ventilation system. Photovoltaic modules for internal use, a comprehensive building automation system, efficient control and regulation technology, and the latest LED technology are the key components of the electrical design.
