Back in April we reported on the passing of American-born, London-based architect Rick Mather, indicating, "With a number of projects underway, his colleagues will continue the practice under Mather's name." One of those projects—the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts—dropped Mather's office just one month after his death, citing delays resulting from his illness and the small firm size. The museum has announced that Ennead Architects is the new architect for the 175,000-sf (16,000-sm) project that will include galleries, educational spaces, and a restaurant. Construction on the expansion is set to begin in 2015 with a completion target of 2019. As of now, no designs have been formally released, so stay tuned for those when they become available.
