Since 2021, FABULOUS URBAN | NIGERIA FOUNDATION has been active in the Precious Seeds Community, part of the Oworonshoki neighborhood. Among the projects implemented are a number of MDDTs (Mobile Dry Diversion Toilets) and the Oworonshoki Mobile Clinic. Among the capacity building and empowering activities are the Fair Shared City: Lagos. Feminist city planning from the micro-level, the The Fair Shared City Approach to Urban Community Development. Oworonshoki, Lagos, and the Oworonshoki Local Building Code Project.
At the end of July 2023, Precious Seeds, among other communities in the Oworonshoki neighborhood on Lagos Mainland, was brutally and forcibly, in a joint operation by the local king and the Lagos State government The Factsheet about the Oworonshoki forced evictions can be downloaded under "Publications" (PDF), using the following arguments: Illegal procedure of enforcement notice, unjustified reasons for evictions, and suspected foul-play in plans for future development.
In collaboration with other NGOs, we continue the advocacy for the slum dwellers in all Oworonshoki. Partner organizations include: Rethinking Cities, Shantytown empowerment foundation, CEE-Hope, Oworo Youth forum, Lot5 Charity foundation, Lagos Urban Development Initiative, and Heinrich Böll Stiftung Abuja.
As of August 2023, FABULOUS URBAN | NIGERIA FOUNDATION has embarked on a rebuilding plan for the Precious Seeds Community (see respective project on website).
