Located in the suburbs of Beirut along the coastal highway to Byblos, the Aïshti Foundation has become a focal point in the previously industrial neighbourhood. The mix of commercial and cultural programs defines the building. The design confronts the issue of public space and creates a new promenade along the waterfront, attracting visitors to the beautiful seaside scenery. This new public realm offers a place of rest, away from the busy highway, protected by Adjaye’s design. Following the urban rhythm, the building envelope appears light.
