"I Am Zaha"

Artist Greg Shapter has created an installation on the brick party wall of the Domus showroom in Clerkenwell, London, that resembles architect Zaha Hadid. The catch is that "I Am Zaha" can only be grasped fully from one spot, which the artist has marked with an "X" on the sidewalk; from other angles the white pieces that make up the three-dimensional piece overlap incomprehensibly. While depicting an architect who famously exploits the potential of computers to craft complex, non-linear forms, ironically the temporary artwork (on display until the end of the year) more closely follows one-point perspective, invented during the Renaissance, and which is seeing a resurgence in much of the street-art optical illusions, like "I Am Zaha," being produced today.
