The development of the Can Jofresa-Vallparadís Terrassa park aimed to provide the district with a large, green area whilst connecting between two previously detached central urban parts and between these areas and the rest of the city.

The main objectives were the creation of meeting spaces at the points of articulation between the different areas of the district; recovery and protection of natural values of the Vallparadís river bed and the integration of this part of the river into the center of the city making it accessible to all citizens.

The channeling of the river through a new large buried collector forced the elevation of the natural surface and therefore increased the flat usable area. This new topographical condition allowed extensive tree planting which were organized in the manner of re-forestation, reviving the historical memory of the plantations and orchards of the old stream.
