The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced the nine projects that are the 2019 recipients of its annual Institute Honor Awards for Architecture.
Winners were selected by a five-member jury with the goal of finding projects "that demonstrate design achievement, including a sense of place and purpose, ecology, environmental sustainability and history." They range from open-air landscape structures and a suburban office building, to a high-profile museum in the nation's capital and the restoration of a building designed by a president. The nine winning projects are listed below in alphabetical order, though more information on them can be found on the AIA website. The nine recipients will be honored at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas in June.
