Newly released renderings show the Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco, the 115,000-capacity stadium projected to be the largest football stadium in the world. Designed by Populous in collaboration with Oualalou + Choi, the stadium's tented roof was inspired by moussem, an annual festival in Morocco.
The main reason for the Grand Stade Hassan II is to host the FIFA World Cup 2030. Morocco, Spain, and Portugal won a joint bid last year to host the 2030 tournament, which will mark the FIFA World Cup centenary. Additionally, the 115,000-capacity stadium will serve as the home of two local clubs.
