Geometry of Light

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's 1929 pavilion is familiar to any architect or student of architecture. The masterpiece, rebuilt in 1986, is a composition of lines (columns and mullions) and planes (stone walls and overhanging roofs) that defines an open, flowing plan. Geometry of Light projects lines of light across the pavilion's horizontal and vertical surfaces to "trace, highlight, and alter [its] composition."

Luftwerk, the artistic collaboration of Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero, has teamed with Iker Gil of MAS Context and sound designer Oriol Tarragó, whose aural accompaniment further immerses visitors into the pavilion's brief alternative reality. Geometry of Light is on display at the Mies van der Rohe pavilion until February 17, 2019.
