The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and its Committee on the Environment (COTE) have selected the "top ten examples of sustainable architecture and ecological design projects that protect and enhance the environment."
The announcement of the winners, which will be honored at the AIA National Convention next month, can be found on the AIA website. The projects are listed below in alphabetical order by project name; click on the project names to see more information on the winning projects at the AIA website.

The Miller Hull Partnership
The Bullitt Center is a high performance urban office building demonstrating a commercially-viable structure with essentially no environmental footprint is possible; it is the largest certified Living Building.
CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory

Diamond Schmitt
This 174,300-square-foot lab and support office space incorporates a complex industrial program of pilot scale casting, rolling and welding, corrosion and mechanical testing alongside microstructure evaluations and radiation testing.

The LEED Gold building provides space for all aspects of a traditional campus, with 200,000 square feet of academic space on the first seven floors and 150,000 square feet for a 600 bed student residence on the levels above.
