The Euro Cup finals take place on Sunday with Portugal squaring off against France on its home turf in Saint-Denis. André Chiote, an illustrator who happens to live in Oporto, Portugal, has depicted a few of the Euro Cup venues in his distinctive style.
Although Chiote certainly will be rooting for Portugal on Sunday, his admiration of the architecture of the French stadiums is obvious. His apparently simple compositions of just three or four colors capture the important aspects of each design: the skinny columns tracing shadows on the underside of the seats in Herzog & de Meuron's newest stadium; the undulating roofscape of SCAU's renovation of the 1937 Marseille stadium; and the sharp, blade-like concrete columns of Roger Taillibert's lasting design in Paris.

Visit André Chiote's website to look at his other illustrations that take architecture as their subject; a series on the stadiums of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is especially relevant here.
