The two big-name architects will design the residential buildings that make up Phase 3 of London's Battersea Power Station development.
Battersea Power Station Development Company has announced that Gehry Partners and Foster + Partners have been chosen to design Phase 3 in the BPS redevelopment. This news come at about the same time of the building's inclusion in the 2014 World Monuments Fund Watch List, which cites the redevelopment and concerns "that current plans do not adequately protect the iconic chimneys and the important viewsheds of the power station’s silhouette."
Frank Gehry and Norman Foster's contributions will focus on residential buildings on either side of the High Street. Per a BPS statement, "Phase 3 will comprise 1200 residential units, a 200 room hotel overlooking both the town square and the Power Station, 350,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space, a 15,000 sq. ft. library and further leisure space."
