The Search for Curved Spaces
Architectural Digest visits Casa Orgánica, the home of artist and architect Javier Senosiain that he built into the earth overlooking Mexico City. The 12-minute film with commentary from Senosiain beautifully captures the colorful, cave-like spaces of a one-of-a-kind creation.
World-Architects first encountered Javier Senosiain and his Casa Orgánica a few years ago, in an exhibition at the Noguchi Museum titled In Praise of Caves: Organic Architecture Projects from Mexico by Carlos Lazo, Mathias Goeritz, Juan O’Gorman, and Javier Senosiain. “Caves” is an espeically apt term for Senosiain, who found inspiration in nature and buried the ferrocement house in the soil. A later addition called The Shark breaks from the earth but continues Senosiain's search for curved spaces.
