'Shining a light on patents and innovations' This metapher of lighting on the website of the European Patent Office (EPO) makes its operation and positioning clear. So the light designing of the new administration building in Munich is the primary creative factor.

The shape of the helix as the architectorial centre stands as a metaphor for rapid development of technologies. This movement is continued by dynamically light trails in the ceiling mirror. Flankin the foyer the individual floors seem like oversized wooden shelves. Their shapes are traced by coved lighting.

The topic of formal abstinence is carried on to the catering gastronomy area and added with new light qualities: light furniture in the lounge which seperates the space like as a matter of course; round ceiling cutouts in the cafeteria with a pointed light slot over the bar; elegant pendant luminaires at the casino.

The very constructive cooperation with principal and architects from the very beginning acchieved administrative building with an extraordinary highly architectural level - and a lighting concept which communicates the EPO message to its visitors worldwide.
