House with large porch

The clients' request was to have a new house with simple lines, where they could enjoy the large existing park.
MIDE architetti therefore designed a house developed on a single level, where the large open-space living area, facing south, is conceived as a “glass box” overlooking the greenery, protected by a large surrounding porch.
The sleeping area, on the other hand, has a more introspective character: the exposed concrete exterior walls are punctuated by regular openings that allow direct contact with the garden.
The large flat roof unites all rooms of the dwelling, providing adequate solar protection from direct radiation and weathering. The porch space is also characterized by the presence of “light wells” that accommodate vegetation within them, reinforcing the close synergy between the building and the surrounding vegetation.
The abacus of materials is deliberately restrained to reinforce the design concept: glass, wood and a particular reddish tint of concrete, all connected with the Venetian terrazzo flooring.
