The project of the SMEG’s (Electric and Gas Corporation of Monaco) new headquarters is located on a pivotal site between the port and the cliff in the Fontvieille district of Monaco.
Anchored in its environment, the building will offer an outline that resonates on two scales: first, through its presence in Monaco’s landscape, second, thanks to the site integration into the direct urban fabric. At the base, the ground floors have been designed with careful consideration.
The project, of 13.400m² built area, focuses mainly on the 9-floor building that will incorporate a 4-storey elevation plus terrace. The architectural concept involves two main desires: the enhancement of the current building’s assets and the emphasis of SMEG reputed trademark.
In the renovated portion, the reassessment of the interiors frees up the working area to maximize the amount of natural light and therefore decrease the need for artificial lighting. The elevation, brought forth by a succession of elements, expresses the coronation of the building as a new skyline.
