The latest video by Vancouver-based architect and YouTuber Dami Lee pits a trio of architects against AI tools in a design battle, a rematch of a similar battle she made last year. Artificial intelligence has advanced made rapid advances in the ensuing months, so the results of the new challenge are different than before.
With 1.75 million subscribers, DamiLee is one of the most popular YouTube channels devoted to architecture. The videos range from around twelve minutes to a half hour and are about wide-ranging subjects, from science fiction and video games to practical tools and specific buildings.
One of our favorites is her piece on Kowloon Walled City — a video that inspired us to find other films that have looked at the dense, lawless enclave since it was demolished in the mid-1990s.
DamiLee's latest is on the practical side of things, using an “absurd” design battle as a means of exploring how architects can best use AI tools and speculate on the impact those tools are having on architectural design. Like other DamiLee films, it's very well produced and fun to watch.
