A short film with a mix of drone footage, time-lapse photography, and on-the-ground views takes viewers along the nearly one-mile-long Chicago Riverwalk, whose third and last phase opened last year.
Designed by Ross Barney Architects – with Sasaki, Alfred Benesch Engineers, and Jacobs/Ryan Associates for the second and third phases – the Chicago Riverwalk was recently named the recipient of two AIA Institute Honor Awards, one in the Architecture category and one for Regional & Urban Design. The film, made by Chang Kim last year for Sasaki, captures the riverwalk's design features – steps, seating, food kiosks, reflective canopies, water gardens and so – but also people using the immensely popular linear space.
